Historical sites are valuable sources of information about past civilizations, but weather, erosion, vegetation, construction, and human activity can gradually damage them.

Modern surveying techniques provide new ways to document these locations and monitor changes over time. Drone photography, 3D mapping, and other remote-sensing methods can help researchers create digital records of archaeological structures and surrounding landscapes.

Having detailed records may also make it easier to compare a site's condition across different periods and identify areas that need further investigation.
