Hey everyone I see this question come up a lot from students planning to join BCA, so here's a quick breakdown that might help.

BCA is a 3-year course split into 6 semesters. Most universities have around 5 to 7 papers per semester, including practical labs, so the total usually lands between 30 and 40 papers. The exact number depends on the university, so always check the syllabus before applying.

Rough structure:

  • Year 1: Computer fundamentals, C programming, maths, database basics, communication skills

  • Year 2: C++/Java, data structures, DBMS, networks, web technologies

  • Year 3: Python, electives like cloud, AI or cybersecurity, plus a final project

If you don't have a computer background, don't stress. The first year starts from the basics, and regular practice matters more than prior knowledge.

I found a semester-wise list here if you want the full detail on how many subjects in BCA.

Has anyone here done BCA recently? Which subject did you find toughest? Would love to hear your experience!
