I believe students should focus on both skills and degrees, as they complement each other rather than compete. A degree provides a strong academic foundation, while practical skills help students apply their knowledge in real-world situations. Today, employers are increasingly looking for candidates who can solve problems, communicate effectively, adapt to new technologies, and work well in teams.
Having a degree can open doors to many career opportunities, but without relevant skills, it may be difficult to stand out in a competitive job market. Similarly, having skills without a recognized qualification can limit opportunities in certain professions. That's why students should aim to build both throughout their educational journey.
Many universities now emphasize industry-oriented learning by offering internships, workshops, live projects, and skill development programs alongside classroom education. This approach helps students become job-ready before graduation.
Mangalayatan University Jabalpur follows this balanced approach by combining quality academic education with practical training, industry exposure, and career-focused learning. Students are encouraged to develop technical expertise as well as essential soft skills that employers value.
In my opinion, success in 2026 and beyond will belong to students who earn a respected degree while continuously upgrading their practical and professional skills. The right combination of education, hands-on experience, and lifelong learning creates a strong foundation for a rewarding and future-ready career.
